There is one small island, American Samoa, that has not had a case of coronavirus (as of May 7). Learning from the 1918 influenza epidemic and a measles outbreak last year, the island -- 1,600 miles from New Zealand and 2,200 miles from Hawaii -- acted quickly to seal itself off. "Other U.S. islands lost their early battles to keep the infection out. But American Samoa's success so far has been no accident, public health officials say." It's challenging, thought, because many Samoans don't actually live on the island.
