Schools and students have had a big hurdle to face during this pandemic, completely redefining the process of learning. Getting used to new technology, obtaining access to wi-fi and laptops and balancing responsibilities some kids have at home are only a few of the struggles students and educators have faced. Fullerton Joint Union school district in Orange County, Calif., managed to ease the transition by preparing early and providing wi-fi hotspots to children without access at home. They had already given chrome books to students 5 years ago and started experimenting with online learning for homework in the past. Even with all this preparation, the teachers have had to try different options to see what works, moving between synchronous and asynchronous learning, based on students' needs and capabilities. They are also being very flexible with grading, so that students don't suffer because of changes beyond their control. All parties involved are learning to accept their situation and make the most of it.
