A 2,000 year-old bust, owned by a Bavarian king and disappearing during WWII, was bought into a Goodwill store in Austin, Texas, by a woman for $34.99. This happenedin 2018. The historic 52-pound marble relic, a replica of a courtyard in Pompeii, Italy, was owned by King Ludwig of Bavaria and displayed in Pompejandum. The relicdisappeared after shelling by US allied forces in 1944 and 1945. After being lent for one year to the San Antonio Museum of Art, the bust will be returned to the Bavarian Administration of State-Owned Palaces, Gardens and Lakes in Germany.
