On his twelfth birthday, surrounded by friends and teachers, and Spain's prime minister, Jorge Alejo fulfilled the biggest ambition of his life so far by standing up, walking over to his classmates, and playing with them. Jorge has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair, but a state-of-the-art exoskeleton has changed his life. Marsi Bionics, the company that designed the new technology, says its uniqueness lies in the elastic technology that adapts to the user's body. Jorge's mother, Eva Muoz-Torrero, says it's not right that the exoskeleton "should only be available to families who can arrange crowdfunding and a massive investment." Still, she is overjoyed. "[Jorge] wanted to have his friends at his side as he stood up and walked. And he's fulfilled that dream."
