The municipality of Tel Aviv-Jaffa is piloting an environmentally-friendly system that provides shade in the day and light at night, in an industrial park that houses high-tech, financial, media, and medical companies. Lumiweave, created by Israeli industrial and product designer Anai Green, is a unique project that addresses climate change and the growing challenge of shading in urban areas with a technological solution that operates based on renewable and clean energy, and enables the supply of lighting without the polluting fuels. The fabric is embedded with solar, organic photovoltaic cells for off-the-grid light and shade, and requires no electrical infrastructure. It can provide lighting at night for up to three days without sun.
