Scott Anderson was traveling with his 11-year-old son in wild rainy weather when he lost control of his car while making a turn. The car tumbled 500 feet, stopping in a ditch out of sight of the road. A Cal Fire firefighter drove by some time after the accident and noticed that a road marker was down. He stopped to investigate. It took four hours, in rain and steep terrain, to get Anderson and his son to safety. The area is an extremely steep canyon and it's an extremely rural area of the county, said Mariposa County Sheriff Jeremey Briese. Anderson and his son were hospitalized with only moderate injuries. Definitely, somebody was looking out for them, Briese said.
