Billionaire MacKenzie Scott, ex-wife of Jeff Bezos, said in 2019 that she would donate the majority of her fortune to various organizations, charities, and causes. On March 22, she ended up donating $436 million to Habitat for Humanity, an organization that engages volunteers to build affordable homes for communities. And Habitat expresses their thanks, with plans to use the funds to boost affordable housing and Black homeownership. "We look forward to bringing diverse groups of people together to focus on the ways we can address systemic racism and injustices in the housing sector that continue to limit access and harm people of color," Habitat's global diversity, equity and inclusion officer Natosha Reid Rice says.
