Starbucks is taking a bold step to reduce single-use plastic and paper by phasing out the its iconic cups as they launch their borrow-a-cup program. Customers will pay a deposit of $1 for a cup they can take with them and return to smart bins to get their money back. "I think we will take the lead," Amelia Landers, vice president of product experience told CNN. "We are testing a number of different iterations and in eight different markets," she said. The idea has been enthusiastically received and is raising people's awareness about the importance of reuse and sustainability.
