A group of kidney donors are climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise awareness and show that donors can go on to live full, active lives. The participants in the One Kidney Climb hope to reach the summit, at 19,341 feet, on World Kidney Day (March 10). This is a way for us to display a powerful message of advocacy and hopefully convince more people to become donors, said participant Bobby McLaughlin.Hikers go through five climate zones during the challenging 42-mile climb. I've never done anything like this, said donor Patricia Graham. I'm hoping we can do a flash mob dance at the summit and make it go viral.More than 100,000 people are on the kidney transplant list.
