According to a study of 2,000 elders over 60 years old, nearly 68% believe they have valuable untapped knowledge that are not being passed along. Oftentimes they feel "unseen" when in society. However, studies show that 87% of younger generations are eager to learn from older generations, such as in finances, history, home maintenance, and cooking. It seems that disparities around customs, culture, and technology contribute to this disconnect. However, thankfully, there is a strong appetite from younger generations to learn from the older generation, so it's just a matter of finding a way of making this happen," says Dawn Roberts, clinical director at Specsavers Home Visits, a research institute dedicating to investigating these matters.
