Julia Streuli and two business partners founded a startup food-tech company in the Netherlands called Ful. The company produces a blue soda made from the microalgae Spirulina. The soda gets its a distinctive color from the chlorophyll in the algae. In addition to reducing its carbon footprint, the Ful soda is loaded with iron, vitamin C, magnesium, and antioxidants. Though many spirulina products are unappealing to the taste, the partners were able to create an extract that is pleasantly salty, which pairs nicely with flavors like peach and lemon ginger.
