In Sackets Harbor, New York, older emergency medical technicians (EMTs) found themselves less able to offer their services due to the pandemic. A group of brave, young high school students stepped in, volunteering their time to run EMT services for the city. Residents were initially skeptical because their age, but soon discover the young adults are professional and highly trained in their work. After rescuing people from chest pains, heart attacks, and falling off ladders, they return to school to sit in algebra class. One of the hardest things, they say, is telling a family their loved one is gone. But a heart of sacrifice compels these high school students to continue their work. "Who else is there to do it if we don't?" one said. "Someone needs to. Someone needs to step up and do it."
