It’s a boy! And, a girl! The birth of baby twin elephants in northern Kenya is a rare happening, accounting for 1% of elephant births. Conservation nonprofit Save the Elephants last saw twins in 2006. Unfortunately, those twins did not survive long after birth, so this is a critical time for the new twins. “Quite often mothers don’t have enough milk to feed both calves,” as stated by Dr. Lain Douglas-Hamilton, founder of the Save the Elephants conservation charity.
