An anonymous benefactor by the name of "Brother Ice" funded the education of a poor student at Southwest Minzu University in Sichuan, China for seven years. When graduation approached, the donor sent a final payment of 6,000 yuan followed by a message saying the student did not need to repay him. Then all contact was cut off. The student and his family wanted to thank Brother Ice, but it was turned down. The benefactor, who also experienced poverty while in school, saw a reflection of himself in the student. Brother Ice was later tracked down by the media, and his real name was found to be Lin Zhenbing. It turns out he, too, received financial help from a kind samaritan and was paying it forward.
