For almost 20 years, Sunny Huang has been growing moringa after making a promise to a family friend, Uncle Wu, who used moringa seeds and powder to replenish his energy after chemotherapy. Uncle Wu played on Taiwan's national baseball team with Huang's now ex-husband. As well as tending a small patch of moringa trees near her Texas home, Huang also buys moringa seeds, oil, and powder from wholesalers to make value-added products like balm, tea, soap, oil, and a powder that makes a matcha-like drink. She also has her own nursery where she raises moringa seedlings for customers who want to grow their own “miracle trees” at home.
