The solar industry in India saw a growth of 335% in the first nine months of 2021 compared to the same period in 2020. Despite the high cost of raw materials, erratic supplies of modules, and high freight charges, experts predict that 2022 will see the sector perform even better. Manufacturing capacities are being ramped up to cope with expected increase in import costs. The ten largest states account for 96% of the country's large scale installations and solar remains by far the largest in capacity additions.
