Nelson Rego is a recreational hockey goaltender Edmonton, Alberta. All was well until 2001 when he lost his sight completely. Despite the setback, Rego returned to the sport years later after one the players on the Edmonton SeeHawks became injured. Everyone on the team was on board with him being a substitute goalie. And Rego played just like any other person. The subtle cues that people with their vision see, I pick up on those subtle cues with my hearing, said Rego. The team ended up claiming a win of 9-8. "It was just like being one of the guys on the team and that whole camaraderie thing that you get with a team that's the thing that I really love the most.
