Romania recently passed a bill mandating Holocaust and Jewish History education in all high schools. The bill passed 107-13 and garnered bipartisan support. The school subject will be titled "History of the Holocaust and the Jewish people," aiming to preserve the culture of Romanian Jews and heal the wounds of injustice that occurred during the Holocaust. In addition, Romania Parliament passed another bill to open up a National Museum of Jewish History and the Holocaust. "Education and understanding are our best tools to cultivate democracy and freedom, to fight antisemitism, intolerance and extremism," said Silviu Vexler, a member of parliament.
