Target's 1,915 stores in the US are no longer opening their doors on Thanksgiving day, extending its holiday season across the later months of the year. Last year, Covid restrictions prevented stores from opening on large holidays like Thanksgiving. With more time for folks to do holiday shopping, sales have gone up. Perhaps this is an indication that the stress of holiday shopping will be a thing of the past. Target CEO Brian Cornell wrote in a note to employees, "You don't have to wonder whether this is the last Thanksgiving you'll spend with family and friends for a while, because Thanksgiving store hours are one thing we won't 'get back to' when the pandemic finally subsides."
