Kindness is contagious. For Jaime Thurston, it began with a classified ad she spotted in 2013 when looking for second-hand furniture. "Wanted: rug!!!" It was from a woman, living in a remote area without a car, whose kids were cutting their feet while playing on the floor. When Jaime showed up at her door with some goods donated by friends, the woman burst into tears. The next day, Jaime set up a Facebook page called "52 Lives", which has grown into a fully fledged charity. During the pandemic, it has provided bedding, toys and books for 18 new families in a women's refuge in Wales, helped women fleeing domestic violence, and bought 100 uniforms for children going back to school.
