The Red Dress project, started by Kirstie Macleod of Somerset in the U.K., globally connected and empowered women by sending a single dress around the world for individuals to add their stories to via embroidery. The finished product is a single garment showing unity of the cultures represented. Embroiderer Blanka Kolkova, from the Czech Republic, calls the nearly 12-year project "pure sisterhood."
