In Bahasa, Indonesia, a mobile library promotes literacy AND recycling. "My message is, let us build a culture of literacy from a young age to mitigate the harm of the digital world and we should take care of our waste to fight climate change and to save the Earth from trash," said Raden Roro Hendarti, founder of the Trash Library. Her three-wheeled Trash Library has been driving for five years and has a collection of about 6,000 books, which can be rented with plastic waste. Raden estimates that the library collects about 220 pounds of trash a week, which her team then sorts and sells to buy more books. The library targets families that don't know or care about how to dispose of their waste well.
