A peat bog in Northern Ireland has been restored by NI Water and the Forest Service. According to Rebecca Allen from NI Water, "Healthy bogs can provide a nature-based solution to climate change." By returning the land to a functioning bog and re-growing water-absorbing mosses, more carbon is retained, and less is released into the atmosphere. The bog also slows and filters water improving the quality of drinking water to surrounding areas.
