Co-authors of the book "We Are Not Like Them" expanded their friendship by having honest and challenging discussions about race. Their fictionalized storyline of a black child being shot by a white officer provided the opportunity to talk honestly about their feelings surrounding racially-charged issues within their own friendship. The process deepened both their working and personal relationship, and their book gives others the chance to have similar discussions with their own friends.
