Part of a program called Paws with Purpose, Omni is a therapy dog that is helping students at Eastern High School learn how to read. Teacher Emily Kolb has been using therapy dogs in school for four years. She says many students in her class are reading below their grade level and sitting and reading to a dog helps to ease some of the anxiety the students get when they read out loud. “It relieves stress,” said student Wayna who was reading to Omni while she petted the dog.
