The Capitol Police have a new recruit; her name is Lila and she's a three-year-old black lab. The comfort dog is there to bring smiles and a little relaxation to Capitol Police in the wake of the January 6 riot. Any problems you have, even if it's just for a few seconds, disappear, said Capitol Police Officer Jeff Albanese about Lila's magic. Albanese's fellow officer Caroline Edwards who suffered a traumatic brain injury on January 6, said The sense of comfort, release, not having to talk about anything at all, to describe what the dog offers officers. Lila was trained as a seeing eye dog, but her love of chasing squirrels led her to her current profession lifting the spirits of police officers.
