In an interesting turn of events, Florida police went on-line seeking public assistance to find a man who had stolen diapers and wipes FROM a Walmart. The man had tried to pay for the merchandise twice at a self-checkout with different credit cards, both of which were declined. He then left the store without paying. After the police posted on their Facebook page with images of the man, community `member`s spoke up and stepped up in his defense. The comments were critical of police treating the incident as if the man had stolen something expensive and valuable, like a TV, instead of a necessary item. Citizens from across the country contacted police offering to pay for the stolen merchandise in lieu of the man being arrested. Walmart signed a waiver of prosecution and the police let the man know he would not be arrested.
