Tilly and the Tree is a book about a girl who learns patience and a lot more while trying to grow a tree. What's remarkable about the book is that it is written by three 17-year-olds whose mission is to encourage children to read. The beautiful illustrations are by the three teens too as they set out to translate their insights into stories. "I see myself within Tilly because she could have easily given up on the tree but instead she followed what her mom told her and gave it a little water, some sunshine and a little love, and it grew from there," said co-author Jordan Williams. She and her friends have set up a fundraising campaign to publish 1,000 copies of the book to be distributed to Chicago Public Schools.
