The prototype, created by Lonh Vannsith and his teammates, can carry a person weighing 60 kilograms (132 pounds) up to 4 meters into the air and up to a distance of 1 kilometer. The feat took three years of research. "We wanted to solve some problems for our society by making a taxi drone and... inventing drones for firefighters," said Lonh Vannsith, 21, pilot of the drone. The team is hoping to improve the design by increasing its weight capacity and ability to fly at higher levels.
