Sainsbury's, the UK's second-largest supermarket chain, will shut all of its stores, convenience stores and petrol stations on Boxing Day, Dec. 26, so frontline staff can have an uninterrupted Christmas break. Its rivals - Morrisons, Waitrose, and Marks and Spencer - have made similar announcements. The move, which will benefit about 170,000 of its 189,000 staff, is a way of saying "a massive thank you to all our colleagues for everything they have done during the last challenging year," said Sainsbury's CEO Simon Roberts.
