The Republic of Ireland has reached a major milestone with nine in ten eligible adults having been fully vaccinated. Children aged 12 and over are now eligible for vaccination, and a booster campaign will soon begin for people 80 and older and people 65 and older who live in residential care. Hospitalizations are "trending downwards" and while positive Covid-19 tests are reducing, they remain high in schools. There are 329 people in hospital with Covid-19 - 54 of them in intensive care. The Irish government has set out a plan to remove almost all of its remaining Covid-19 restrictions by October 22.
