Thanks to quick response measures taken by Mayor London Breed, San Francisco's case count of 957 as of April 13 morning -- with just 15 recorded deaths due to the coronavirus -- is much lower than that in metropolises of comparable size such as New Orleans, Detroit, Boston and Washington, D.C. Initially taking criticism for her early steps (such as calling a state of emergency in late February, before the city had even confirmed its first case of the virus), Breed has now established the model for the rest of the US in flattening the curve. She listened to the experts and took action.
