Pakistan is set to appoint its first female judge to its Supreme Court, a monumental movement toward women's rights in the history of the country. Justice Ayesha A Malik, a senior judge of the Lahore High Court, will be joining 16 other Supreme Court Justice members in September. The news has been welcomed by many Pakistanis and people around the globe. "Justice Ayesha Malik, a woman in Supreme Court; another glass ceiling being broken. Many more to go," tweeted Maria Memon, a journalist in Pakistan. Malik was nominated by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed and will remain in her position until March of 2031. She studied at Pakistan College of Law, earned a degree from Harvard Law School and served as a justice in the Lahore High Court for nearly a decade.
