Refrigerated trailers that deliver food to supermarkets are starting to go green. XL Fleet will supply solar and battery power systems for the first 1,000 units of eNow's new electrified trailers, accelerating a sustainable all-electric food delivery solution. Normally trucks use diesel fuel and while idling, burn about a gallon of fuel every hour and release more than 22 pounds of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. eNow's solar systems capture the sun's energy with roof mounted solar modules and store it in auxiliary batteries that power lift gates, in-cab air conditioning, refrigeration and lighting for up to 12 hours or more between charges.
