According to the Arizona Asian Chamber of Commerce Inc., Asian-owned business activity dropped 60% to 85% since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020. Though state administrations and the federal government have provided support in the form of grants and loans, the Asian community face barriers like lack of technology and language differences. For them the best relief has come FROM `member`s of their own community, who have devised grassroots, ground up programs designed for the immediate needs of the vulnerable. One of the solutions was to buy meals from restaurants and provide them to older people so that they could avoid the risk of infection. The Asian Chamber has also worked with the state administration to make available 3 million dollars to help Asian owned businesses. Welcome to Chinatown is another organization which has similar programs to help the sprawling Chinatown businesses in Manhattan. The organization which considers itself a business partner, not a savior, has provided more than 25,000 meals and raised over $200,000 for Chinatown restaurants.
