A Giant Arctic Walrus named "Wally" that was spotted sunning on Valentia Island early this March was discovered off the cold waters of Ireland. The walrus is considered a protected species, and has been migrating for over four months. Conservation charity Seal Rescue Ireland gave special instructions to the public asking that if he is spotted to observe him quietly from a minimum of 300 meters and to resist the urge to share the location publicly. People have been willing to follow the instructions. The conservation team added, "Thank you to all the Walrus lovers sharing in our excitement about seeing such an incredible creature in our Irish waters! We hope everyone shares in our priority to keep him safe so he can rest up and head back to his home in Arctic waters."
