A new test for diabetics discovered by chance while working on solar cells holds out the possibility of low-cost, non-invasive testing for COVID-19, allergen, hormone, and cancer testing, say Australian scientists. The printable test uses a transistor to show that glucose is present so people with diabetes would no longer have to prick their fingers daily. The university is working with Harvard University on a COVID-19 test using the same technology and has secured Australian government funding to produce the test kits if clinical trials are passed.
