What do people crave when feeling under the weather? Soup, of course. "I can't explain why," says New York-based chef Eric Korn, "but from my brain to my bones, everything tells me to do whatever I can to get soup made." Korn and others have started the initiative to cook and distribute 1 million gallons of soup to people in need during the pandemic. What amazes him is how his colleagues have banded together for this effort, which has already stockpiled 1,000 gallons in restaurant freezers across Westchester County. "Chefs have a few days of money left and then their life's work is gone," he explains. "Yet, they are most worried about their teams."
