Ending plastic pollution, cutting pesticide use by two-thirds, halving invasive species introduction and cutting $500 billion of government subsidies a year are targets in a new draft of a Paris-style United Nations agreement. Other goals in the UN Convention on Biological Diversity include protecting at least 30 percent of the world's oceans and land and providing a third of climate crisis mitigation through nature by 2030. New mid-century goals include reducing extinctions, enhancing ecosystem integrity and valuing nature's contributions. The final text will be negotiated during a 2022 summit in China.
