Since the world went into lockdown, the global demand for oil dropped by almost 10 percent, and carbon emissions also dropped -- by 6 percent compared to the previous year. This was the steepest drop since 1945. However, Spencer Dale, British Petroleum's chief economist, warns that this was largely due to coronavirus, and carbon emissions are likely to rise again to pre-pandemic levels by the end of 2022.
