The Ambulance for Monuments project aims to restore old monuments in the Balkans. So far, the project has saved more than 55 buildings on the verge of destruction. Currently, volunteers are putting in work to revive the Brukenthal Castle, one of Romania's many abandoned monuments. The project has already reached 60 percent of the country and plans to expand across the entirety of Romania in the next couple of years. Every Romanian should at some point come to put a tile or a nail on a roof to save their own cultural identity," says Romanian architect Eugen Vaida.
