A new program called Build Up would change the lives of the graduating class in an experimental Alabamian school. The program teaches students to use their math and science knowledge to build and refurbish homes in Birmingham. For example, student Hope Hooper used the skills she gained from the program to paint and install the flooring in a house. Being able to see their hard work pay off is extremely rewarding to the students.
