Sneha Revanur, a 16-year-old student in California, is putting young activists on the front lines of digital rights. She created Encode Justice last year after joining a successful campaign against state plans to use an algorithm to set prisoners' bail terms. "We are the next generation of technologists, regulators, activists -- it's impacting our lives on a daily basis," she said. Encode Justice now has more than a dozen US chapters and teams researching policy issues, and international chapters are sprouting up. Members track legislation, lobby and make school presentations about such things as social media algorithms and privacy issues that directly impact students.
