Twenty-four-year-old Sivabalan Ramesh is the only man in New Zealand with a blood type rare enough to donate to a stranger whose hemoglobin levels are life-threateningly low. The blood will be sent 13,000 kilometers away to the unknown recipient. Ramesh, originally from India, is surprised by how few people donate blood in New Zealand. "It's normal in India. When I was living back home, my whole family would go together and get it done," he told nine.com.au. His willingness to give blood will save the life of a patient very far away.
