A new study has found that shifting to a four-day work week, without a loss of pay, could shrink the UK's carbon footprint by 127 million tons per year by 2025. This represents a reduction of 21.3 percent from 2020, a figure that is more than the entire carbon footprint of Switzerland and the equivalent of taking 27 million cars off the road. Not only is a four-day work week good for the carbon footprint, it is good for employee mental health and building better relationships at home. Several companies are trialing this model, now, to ascertain the benefits to employee welfare and bottom-line performance.
