Minnesota is planning to have herd immunity (or 70 percent of its population vaccinated) by July 1. However, because some people continue to be skeptical of the vaccine and many poor communities and communities of color have a hard time getting access to it, the state expects to fall short of its goal. As a response, the state is repurposing Metro Transit's surplus of vehicles in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul) and sending buses to provide vaccines to marginalized communities around the state.
