When the Pottsboro, Tex., public library rolled out its telehealth center in January 2021, offering appointments two days a week, it sparked widespread interest in telehealth nationwide -- for bringing affordable healthcare where it is most needed. Telehealth is a great fit for libraries, experts say, and the Federal Communications Commission's $7.1 billion e-rate grant program for libraries and schools will provide resources. When courts required virtual attendance during the pandemic, libraries created spaces with high-quality video and audio, and librarians learned effective virtual meeting skills.
