Inmates at an Oklahoma prison have begun receiving special computer tablets as part of a Department of Corrections plan to provide secure tablets to all state prisoners. The tablets include free content such as prison policies, access to a law library, some books and educational and self-help materials. Inmates can also pay to receive music, movies, games and television programs and send and receive messages to and from their families, although rates are high. Both the provider and department will earn money from the project. Similar programs exist in Arizona, Connecticut and Utah.
