When Angela Maxwell set out to walk around the world by herself in 2014, she wasn't really sure why. Now, looking back, she realizes she was looking for "a deeper connection with nature and people -- by living on less and connecting with the world around me." During her six and a half years of walking, she kept two things in mind -- to listen in order to learn and the importance of contribution. She became a voice for female empowerment as she shared her stories and collected $30,000 in donations for NGOs that support girls and young women. Curiosity and open-mindedness allow one to "more deeply experience the world and its inhabitants," she said.
