Her device called Tethys helps to detect lead in drinking water. This innovation brought 15-year-old Gitanjali Rao global recognition and even an interview in Time magazine, conducted by none other than Angelina Jolie herself. For Gitanjali, it was a validation of a long-held view that science and technology can help to address long-standing social issues. Her passion for STEM has led her to seek out young fellow innovators from around the globe to find solutions for global problems through innovation workshops. I love helping people. I love using science and technology to do that. So that priority always comes first, is the clear-headed statement of purpose of this representative of Generation Z. According to her, the pandemic has shown us the importance and value of science and energized her in the pursuit of her passion.
